The Power of Wisdom: Building with Divine Insight

By Apostle Dr. Michael Mband

Wisdom: A Divine Mandate for Building

The book of Genesis 41 tells the story of Pharaoh seeking a man “discrete and wise” to oversee Egypt during times of plenty and famine. This man, Joseph, was given wisdom to prepare and sustain the nation through difficult seasons. Similarly, in our walk with God, wisdom is a divine necessity for building and establishing God’s kingdom on earth. Proverbs 24:3 reminds us, “Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established.” Without wisdom, labor becomes wearisome and efforts yield little fruit (Ecclesiastes 10:15).

The Call to Seek Wisdom

As believers and leaders, we must earnestly pray for the spirit of wisdom—the ability to discern right from wrong paths, identify opportunities, and govern well. Wisdom governs more than just church growth; it touches every sphere of life including business, family, and career. Apostle Mband emphasizes that without wisdom, progress stalls and work becomes futile. Managing even a few people requires wisdom, and this need multiplies as responsibilities grow.

The Example of Solomon

King Solomon’s request to God was a model for us all: he asked for an “understanding heart to judge thy people” instead of riches or long life (1 Kings 3:9). God granted Solomon unparalleled wisdom, showing His desire to equip His leaders with insight and discernment. We too are encouraged to boldly ask for wisdom because God “giveth to all men liberally” (James 1:5).

Wisdom is the Mind of Christ

Believers inherit the mind of Christ, which is full of wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:16). Jesus Himself “increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man” (Luke 2:52). Living by this divine wisdom positions us for success in all we do and aligns us with God’s purposes.

The Blood of Jesus: Source of Wisdom

The blood of Jesus brings life and wisdom. As we partake in communion, we open ourselves to be filled with the spirit of wisdom for every challenge we face. This wisdom is vital not only for church leadership but for everyday decisions and life management.

Growing Together in Wisdom

As the church grows—especially with significant upcoming events and expansion—it is essential to multiply wisdom among leaders, just as Moses shared the spirit of wisdom among the elders (Numbers 11). Wisdom enables us to lead well, build well, and serve well, ensuring the growth of the kingdom is both sustainable and godly.

A Prayer for Wisdom

Let us all diligently pray for wisdom today and always, trusting God to equip us with the understanding and discernment to lead effectively. May we build our homes, churches, and communities on the firm foundation of God’s wisdom, bringing glory to His name.

This message invites every believer to seek the wisdom of God actively and depend on His promise to generously provide it. Wisdom is the key to fruitful labor and faithful leadership in the kingdom of God.
