In a powerful message delivered to the congregation, Apostle Dr. Michael Mband delved into the biblical principles behind financial blessings, drawing deeply from the life of Abraham. The teaching, rooted in scripture and practical wisdom, offers a roadmap for believers seeking to walk in the fullness of God’s provision.

The Foundation:

Abraham’s Example Apostle Dr. Mband began by emphasizing that Abraham, known as the “father of faith,” was not just blessed by God-he was also a man of action whose lifestyle attracted divine favor. The blessing of Abraham, he explained, is not automatic; it is accessible to those who align themselves with the same principles Abraham lived by.

The Three Pillars of Abraham’s Blessing

  1. Tithing: The Gateway to Blessing Abraham was a tither. Referencing Genesis 14:20-21, Apostle Dr. Mband highlighted how Abraham gave a tenth of all he had to Melchizedek, the priest of God. This act of obedience and honor set Abraham apart. The message was clear: those who desire Abraham’s blessings must also embrace the discipline of tithing. “The moment you are not a tither and you claim to be looking for the blessings of Abraham, you have forfeited them yourself,” he warned.
  2. Generosity: A Liberal Soul Abraham’s generosity extended beyond finances. In Genesis 13:5-13, when conflict arose between his herdsmen and Lot’s, Abraham selflessly offered Lot the first choice of land. Despite being the elder and the one called by God, Abraham prioritized peace and the well-being of others over personal gain. Apostle Dr. Mband urged believers to emulate this liberal spirit, putting others’ interests first and trusting God as the ultimate source of blessing.
  3. Hospitality: Entertaining Angels Unaware Genesis 18:1-10 recounts Abraham’s hospitality to three strangers, who turned out to be divine messengers. His willingness to serve, even at personal cost, opened the door to a miraculous promise-the birth of Isaac. Apostle Dr. Mband stressed that hospitality and kindness are not mere social niceties; they are spiritual keys that unlock God’s favor. “What if he did not entertain these guests? This thing could not have happened,” he reflected. Developing Capacity for God’s Blessing Apostle Dr. Mband also addressed the importance of capacity. He noted that Abraham waited 25 years from the time of God’s promise to the birth of Isaac, a period necessary for growth and preparation.

Similarly, David and Hannah experienced seasons of waiting, during which God was building their capacity to steward the blessings He intended to give. “God will never give you anything that you’re not ready to give back to Him,” Apostle Dr. Mband taught. The delay is not denial; it is divine preparation.

Practical Application for Today The message concluded with a call to action: Embrace tithing as an act of faith and obedience. Cultivate a generous spirit, always considering the needs of others. Practice hospitality, knowing that acts of kindness can lead to divine encounters. Be patient in seasons of waiting, using the time to develop the capacity required to handle the blessings you seek. Apostle Dr. Mband reminded the congregation that everything belongs to God; we are stewards, not owners.

The secret to breakthrough is not in striving harder, but in aligning with God’s principles and developing the character and capacity to carry His blessings faithfully. “If you are praying to God for something, be patient. God already has granted it; all you need now is to develop the capacity to handle the thing you are asking from Him.”
