When In Pursuit of Our Destiny, We Have Committed God To

Divine Purpose: The Foundation of Destiny

Every person on earth is born with a divine purpose—a destiny uniquely crafted by God. In his powerful message, Apostle Dr. Michael Mband draws from the story of Jeremiah, reminding us that before we were even formed in our mother’s womb, God knew us, sanctified us, and ordained us for a specific assignment (Jeremiah 1:5). The journey to fulfilling our destiny begins with a critical question: Why am I here?

No one else can define your vision or destiny except God Himself. It is only through seeking His face and engaging the Holy Spirit that we can truly discover our purpose. Just as a fish struggles outside water and a tree withers away from the soil, so too does a person struggle when disconnected from their God-given destiny.

The Struggle of Misalignment

Many of life’s struggles stem from living outside the will and purposes of God. Apostle Mband emphasizes that the hardest job in Christianity is not just serving, but seeking God until you know why you exist. Without this revelation, even the most gifted individuals can end up living unfulfilled lives, missing out on the greatness God intended for them.

The Importance of Pursuing God’s Plan

The pursuit of destiny is not a passive journey—it requires intentional prayer and surrender. When we earnestly seek to know and walk in God’s plan, we commit God to act on our behalf in profound ways:

God Goes Before Us Referencing John 10:4-5 and Isaiah 45:1-3, Apostle Mband explains that when we pursue God’s plan, He goes ahead of us. He anoints us, holds our hand, and subdues obstacles before us. God makes crooked paths straight, breaks gates of brass, and opens doors that no one can shut. This divine leading shortens our journey, removes delays, and ensures we arrive at our ordained destination.

God Goes With Us God’s presence is not just ahead of us, but also with us. In Matthew 28:20, Jesus promises, “I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” As we obey the Great Commission and seek first the Kingdom, God accompanies us, granting us rest and assurance, just as He did with Moses (Exodus 33:13-15). Moses understood that without God’s presence, success is meaningless.

Discernment: Not Every Open Door is From God

Apostle Mband warns that not every opportunity is from God. Sometimes, the enemy presents attractive but deceptive doors. He shares a testimony of a job offer that turned out to be fake, only for a genuine opportunity to follow shortly after. Believers must pray for discernment, asking God to close any door not meant for them, no matter how appealing it may seem.

Embracing the Process: The Value of Trials

The journey to destiny often involves trials—“going through the fire and the waters.” Apostle Mband encourages believers not to rush out of difficult seasons, but to stay until God’s refining work is complete. Like a product marked “QC” (Quality Checked), we must allow God to prepare us fully for the next level of glory.

 Conclusion: Commit to the Pursuit

To pursue your destiny is to commit God to go before you, to go with you, and to perfect all that concerns you. The key is wholehearted surrender: “God, I just want what You want for me.” When you make this your prayer, you can trust that God will guide, protect, and provide for you every step of the way. May you seek, discover, and fulfill your God-ordained destiny, knowing that in your pursuit, you have committed God to walk with you. Stay blessed, and keep pursuing your destiny in Christ!
